其實這齣音樂劇在我 1999 年去紐約時就已經在 Broadway 開演，
1998 年一推出就奪得各式各樣的大獎。
但是當時只看了 Les Miserable 跟 Lea Salonga，
就算看到 Lion King 的海報四處都是也沒想太多。
錯失良機的五年半後終於有機會觀賞到，
雖然官網的票賣完害我去 e-Bay 上硬是標了更貴的票，
看完以後真的只能大呼過癮，幸好有買到票！

坐在戲院終等開幕時腦中一直反覆著友人對 Lion King 的評價：
I've never seen anything like that before!

燈滅、開幕，Circle of Life 的音樂響起，
先是長頸鹿、再來是豹、羚羊、大象，各種動物一一映入眼簾，
整個非洲大陸不知不覺的就出現在這一個小小的舞臺上，
旺盛的生命力渲染了整個戲院，
我就這樣連人帶魂徹底被帶入了這個發生在非洲的故事裡。

Lion King 的故事劇情我想多數人都知道，
畢竟是 Disney 家喻戶曉的成功卡通電影之一，
但是改編出來的音樂劇更是讓人難以筆墨形容之。

有別於我所偏好的多數音樂劇，
Lion King 的舞蹈部分所帶來的視覺饗宴跟音樂部分讓人一樣激賞。
真的什麼都有：modern, ballet, African 甚至 hip hop，
編劇 + 編舞的創意跟天份實在是驚人，
光看劇照我很難想像演出者穿著那樣的 costume 是要如何表演，
但是一個個出場讓我下巴掉了好多次，硬是如此合諧、生動啊！
很想指出幾個特別讓我印象深刻的卻做不到，
每一個都是如此超乎想像的自然：躐狗、羚羊、長頸鹿，等等，
真的是作夢也想不到能用這種方式呈現自然界的生意盎然。

音樂部份有很重的非洲味。
或許單聽 Rafiki 碎碎念跟很多人想像的「好聽」搭不上邊，
但是編曲的深厚功力、配上視覺刺激、順著故事發展，
一切都是如此適切。
首尾呼應的 Circle of Life 為整齣秀畫下了最完美的句點。

熟悉而溫暖的故事配上動聽的音樂以及美麗的舞蹈，
對一個音樂劇我還要求什麼呢？

簡單報告一下，基本上在前幾篇裡所提到的對象呢，
經過這趟 New Jersey 之旅之後九成九是沒戲唱啦。

兩個人實在沒什麼交集，我想逛博物館他想逛 Prada, LV；
我喜歡看書，他連漫畫都嫌字太多；
我是 Les Miserable 的 super fans 同時覺得 Phantom 略淺了，
但是他是 Phantom 的 super fans 同時覺得 Les Miserable 無聊。

這都沒關係，很多人條件開半天最後喜歡上的也不見得合乎條件，
但是 bottom line 根本就在於 no chemistry 啊。
沒感覺就是沒感覺，此路不通啦！:p

這趟旅行的兩個 highlight events 嘛，一是 25 日聖誕節當天，
我不小心的把自己鎖在他們家暖氣最稀薄的房間裡，
因為他們全家都有點時差在午睡，
所以我整整冷了三個半小時之後才被發現。 XD
二是去看了 Lion King！真的太讚了，我很慶幸我有咬牙買下了票。
過兩天會來交心得。

真是一篇遲交很久了的心得。

決定去看這齣音樂劇時，我只知道這是個喜劇、
音樂則是改編自 ABBA 的歌。而我對 ABBA 其實並不熟，
完全是朋友對音樂劇本身的推薦讓我願意灑錢去看。

看了以後只能說真是值得，故事流暢有趣，幾乎沒有冷場，
我尤其喜歡 Donna+Tanya+Rosie 三人組的故事，
會讓人忍不住覺得有過那樣的青春、有那樣的朋友真好。

一定要提一下，飾演 Donna 的 Lauren Mufson 跟 Tanya 的 Lisa Mandel
都是我喜歡的音質類型，渾厚有力，詮釋起他們的角色真是很有說服力。

音樂方面挑選的歌曲都是 ABBA 的經典，
看著青壯年年紀左右的觀眾不由自主隨著音樂搖擺身體，實在很可愛。
而 ABBA 這樣的女子團體，能將歌曲改編讓男性角色融入得如此自然，
真的只能大讚：brilliant！

小小的缺點：我實在是不偏好 Sophie 這個角色的唱腔，
套句 Amy 的說法：就是要表現小女孩的特質。
現場聽的 BeKah Nutt 略嫌刺耳，我以為是演員問題，
但是 CD 上 Lisa Stokke (Broadway original cast) 的詮釋方式
我還是覺得很膩。 :p

Anyway，拖太久才來寫心得的後果就是很多東西都不記得了....
只能說這是一齣相當優秀的音樂劇，非常活潑熱鬧，
個人覺得就算從來沒有接觸過音樂劇的人也應該能很享受這個作品。
強力推薦沒看過的人，有機會的話去欣賞一下。 :-)
